“Artificial Intelligence represents more than just a technological advancement — it significantly enhances Romania’s educational system. The benefits for young people will be visible from the very beginning of their careers thanks to the combination of AI and their talent — a fact supported by 77% of business leaders who responded to the 2024 Work Trend Index study. Thus, young people are much better prepared for the challenges of the future, and our partners are by our side to offer them personalized solutions tailored to their learning needs. We see great development potential in Romanian youth and, through the integration of AI, we aim to maximize it and amplify innovation across the entire country,” emphasizes Bogdan Putinica, General Manager of Microsoft Central and Eastern Europe.
Ascendia, one of Romania’s leading e-learning companies and a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Digital Education Content, is a prime example of successful Microsoft AI integration for education transformation.
LIVRESQ, Ascendia’s flagship e-learning tool, already allows teachers to create personalized and interactive courses without needing programming knowledge. They can generate lessons and educational content based on material length, subject, learner age, tone, and keywords to be included throughout the lesson.
At the beginning of 2023, Ascendia began its collaboration with Microsoft to integrate OpenAI-developed AI technology into the core of LIVRESQ, aiming to support teachers in quickly creating high-quality educational materials. With Microsoft's support, Ascendia benefited from direct assistance in integrating these AI capabilities through the Azure platform.
The result was the launch of the AI Enhancer component in 2023, which allows users to easily generate and rephrase text while preserving meaning and tone. It also facilitates the creation of realistic and engaging dialogues for lessons and courses.
Following the success of AI Enhancer, in 2024 Ascendia released the AI Generator for e-learning lessons and courses within LIVRESQ. This component analyzes and understands the educational objectives of a lesson and suggests appropriate multimedia content. For example, the content creator can set the duration, topic, target age group, tone, language, and specific keywords relevant to the audience. Once configured, the AI generates the lesson plan and suitable content.
As of 2025, LIVRESQ is used by over 130,000 teachers from 7,100 institutions, who develop educational content with the help of integrated AI features. To put this in perspective, LIVRESQ now hosts the largest library of Romanian educational content, with more than 32,260 lessons, open educational resources (OERs), and courses — of which 7,420 are public, and 2,358 have shared source files.
“Since 2023, LIVRESQ has been a true partner for teachers, helping them create lessons and OERs in an easy and interactive way. More than 130,000 educators from 7,100 educational institutions already use this AI-powered tool to generate the materials they need. This new way of creating courses is truly an innovation in how knowledge is delivered to students,”
said Cosmin Mălureanu, CEO of Ascendia.
“Thanks to its success in Romania, the company is now expanding its operations to Poland, Greece, the Philippines, Austria, and South Africa.”

Adservio, a leading school management platform in Romania, is set to launch LearnMate, in partnership with Microsoft. This AI-powered platform adapts to each student’s individual learning needs, explaining theoretical concepts step by step at a pace tailored to each user.
Additionally, Adservio offers school principals a personal AI assistant that facilitates decision-making by generating personalized reports and recommendations.
Another key feature is the AI Progress Module, which provides students and parents with clear, personalized insights into academic performance, offering suggestions tailored to each educational journey.
At “Dimitrie Cantemir” Theoretical High School in Iași, students have access to Adservio’s Wellbeing AI module. This allows children to monitor their emotional well-being, contributing to a more empathetic and safer school environment. Students complete daily digital surveys, and the AI-generated reports help parents take early action when signs of concern appear. Parents also benefit from the Progress Module, which interprets their children’s academic paths with the support of Microsoft AI.
“Technology has become a key pillar in the education system, offering teachers and principals the tools they need to make data-driven decisions, based on insightful analysis. We are proud that, through Microsoft’s AI-powered solutions, we have brought our platform to over 1,500 schools and kindergartens, with more than 1.5 million teachers, students, and parents now active and frequent users of our services. We continue to invest in AI-based solutions to further improve the educational process in Romania,” says Alexandru Holicov, CEO of Adservio.

The testing process is also becoming more enjoyable thanks to the Brio platform, which has been using Microsoft's AI-based solutions since 2023 to simplify assessment. The platform integrates test models/items generated through predefined algorithms. Over 120,000 practice tests have already been created with the help of Microsoft AI in the past year. The next step includes the launch of high school-level preparation tests and automated essay grading, both features soon to be released by Brio.
Gabi Bartic, Chief Operating Officer at Brio, explains the role of technology in education:
“We believe that a classroom can no longer function without a mix of tools that ensure the creation and management of digital content, as well as student evaluation using AI—leaving space for the personalization and humanization of the educational process.”
AI integration through Microsoft is also expanding across universities. Avaelgo has developed an AI Assistant for Universities, delivering key capabilities for students, professors, and administrative staff:
-
Admissions: Offers real-time personalized guidance throughout the admission process, answering questions, clarifying procedures, and simplifying interaction with prospective students.
-
Learning and Teaching: Assists teachers and students by generating personalized tests, labs, and exams, enabling interactive course-related conversations and delivering structured, relevant answers based on verified academic sources.
-
Research: Functions as a personalized AI toolkit for researchers, capable of managing large volumes of data, organizing and analyzing research materials, and generating concise summaries to improve collaboration and information access.
All of the above solutions were developed using the latest Microsoft AI technologies, grounded in principles of security and responsible AI.
