Ascendia signs: "The European CEO AI and critical tech declaration"

Ascendia, through CEO Cosmin Mălureanu, has signed the "European CEO Declaration on AI & Critical Tech." Discover the company's position on innovation funding and the EU investment gap.

Ascendia announces its adherence to a major strategic initiative at the European level by signing the "European CEO Declaration on AI & Critical Tech." The document was signed on behalf of the company by Cosmin Mălureanu, CEO and Co-founder of Ascendia, as part of the effort coordinated by DIGITALEUROPE.

This action comes at a defining moment for the European Union's technology sector, aiming to mobilize European institutions to create funding and regulatory mechanisms that support local innovation.

Economic Context: A Major Investment Deficit

The signatories of the declaration draw attention to economic data that necessitates immediate measures. According to the analyses cited in the document, Europe faces an annual investment deficit estimated at €800 billion.

Furthermore, the inability to scale companies on the continent has led to an exodus of innovation: between 2008 and 2021, nearly 30% of European "unicorns" (companies valued at over $1 billion) relocated their headquarters, predominantly to the United States. Another alarming statistic highlighted by the signatories is that, in the last 50 years, no company has been founded in the European Union that reaches a market value of over €100 billion today.

Objectives of the Declaration

Through this document, tech industry leaders, now including Ascendia, call upon the European Commission and member states for decisive actions and concrete results within the next one to three years.

The main areas of focus are:

  • Access to funding: Creating dedicated facilities for innovative solutions in Artificial Intelligence and critical technologies.

  • Value retention: Implementing policies that allow European companies to grow and scale globally while keeping their operational centers and intellectual property in Europe.

  • Competitiveness: Reducing the technological gap compared to the US and China.

Ascendia's Position

For Ascendia, signing this declaration is a natural step in the company's development strategy. As a developer of proprietary products in the EdTech and GovTech sectors (LIVRESQ, CoffeeLMS), Ascendia supports the need for an ecosystem that favors the transition from start-up to global player without requiring relocation outside the European space.

Involvement in this working group at the DIGITALEUROPE level reaffirms the company's commitment to contributing to the definition of public policies that influence the digital future of Romania and Europe.
