Biology teachers and specialists in the field are invited to attend the final conference of the VHealthLab project, which will take place on 30 October 2025, at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, both physically and online. The event is the culmination of our Erasmus+ project, which highlights the impact of virtual laboratories (VL) on biology education and STEM learning. The conference connects educators, researchers, policymakers and technology developers to discuss key findings, share best practices and explore the future of virtual tools in education.
The VHealthLab project, funded by the European Union, aims to create open, accessible and STEM curriculum-aligned virtual laboratories that complement traditional hands-on lab work. The European partners involved worked to develop the digital platform and innovative educational resources that take interactive learning to the next level.
The conference agenda will include expert presentations, discussions and practical workshops, making the participants’ experience interactive and engaging. The main themes will focus on identifying gaps in education covered by virtual laboratories, exploring the common European biology curriculum, innovative use of virtual patients in education and policy issues related to the implementation of virtual laboratories. Participants will be able to take part in workshops dedicated to the implementation of these laboratories through practical sessions to explore the VHealthLab platform and virtual laboratories.
From Romania, Ascendia is involved with two essential products within the project: CoffeeLMS and LIVRESQ. CoffeeLMS is a robust, secure and scalable Learning Management System (LMS) platform that facilitates the efficient management and delivery of online and blended courses. With advanced functionalities for progress monitoring, integrated communication and content management, CoffeeLMS supports the educational process for hundreds of users simultaneously, being appreciated for its flexibility and ease of use. The CoffeLMS platform was used to develop the VHealthLab e-learning platform. LIVRESQ is an e-learning content editor that allows the creation of interactive and attractive courses, with modern tools, including artificial intelligence functionalities for personalization and optimization of educational materials. LIVRESQ was used for the practical implementation of virtual laboratories. Thus, Ascendia brings a valuable technological contribution to the development of the project's digital resources.
The conference offers biology teachers the opportunity to discover good practices, participate in live demonstrations and be part of an international community of professionals passionate about STEM education. Participation is free and accessible both physically, in Nicosia, and online, by prior registration on vhealthlab.euconf-25.
To increase the visibility of the conference, information will be promoted both on the Ascendia website, in the Erasmus+ Projects section, and on the dedicated Facebook and LinkedIn pages, as well as through networks dedicated to biology teachers.
We invite you to join us at this landmark event, which marks an important milestone in the transformation of digital education and opens up new perspectives for teaching biology in an interactive and innovative way!
